Here are the all "New Arrivals" Pages since 1998!

"New Comics This Week" for The week of September 10 to September 16, 2007

Hot Picks for the Week!
QUICK REVIEWS FOR COMICS DUE 09-12-07
    By John Judy

BLACK ADAM THE DARK AGE #2 of 6 by Peter Tomasi and Doug Mahnke. Teth Adam’s twisted anti-hero’s quest has already taken him to self-mutilation, sorcery, and cannibalism. What will the Marvel Family’s favorite mass-murderer think of next? Maybe not for the kids.

BOOSTER GOLD #2 by Geoff Johns, Jeff Katz, and Dan Jurgens. This latest take on BG as “the greatest hero you’ll never know” is already looking like a great read. This ish Booster teams up with the greatest Green Lantern of all: Sinestro! Recommended.

BPRD KILLING GROUND #2 of 5 by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi, and Guy Davis. Daimo’s cranky and Liz’s visions are getting apocalypticier.

DAREDEVIL #100 by ED Brubaker and a Cast of Thousands. Guest-artists galore and a reprinting of the original DD #90 and 91 by Gerry Conway and Gene Colan, from the days when Matt Murdock was the only straight guy living in San Francisco.

ESSENTIAL PUNISHER VOL.2 SC by Lotsa People. “Bang-bang! Ratta-tat-tat! Take that you dirty rat! Pee-ow! This time it’s personal.” For folks who know what they like…

FABLES #65 by Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham. Flycatcher’s got troubles.

GREEN LANTERN #23 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. Hal Jordan and Sinestro just can’t get along….

GROO 25th ANNIVERSRY SPECIAL by Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones. Lotsa funny.

JACK OF FABLES #14 by Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges. Who’s got the real Excalibur?

JLA WEDDING SPECIAL #1 by Dwayne McDuffie and Mike McKone. Three things that should warm the heart of any comics fan: Dwayne McDuffie, the Injustice League, and Green Arrow’s bachelor party. Handcuff arrows anyone?

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #9 by Geoff Johns and Dale Eaglesham. Lotsa, drama, action, and the return of someone who technically never was.

LONE RANGER #8 by Brett Matthews and Sergio Cariello. The kemo sabes are screwing with Cavendish somethin’ fierce.

MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST WAR COMICS by Lotsa People, edited by David Kendall. What it sounds like: Color, B&W, you name a war and it’s here. This week’s “Must-Look” from Last Gasp.

MARVEL ZOMBIES ARMY OF DARKNESS HC by John Layman and Fabiano Neves. Or “How Reed Richards Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love Brains.”

MOON KNIGHT #12 by Charlie Huston and Mico Suayan. An incredibly violent hodge-podge of barely related imagery, possibly containing a story. Not for kids or fans of coherent narrative.

NEW AVENGERS #34 by Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu. Big Fights plus baby Cage gets a name.

POTTERS FIELD #1 of 3 by Mark Waid and Paul Azaceta. Noir and Mark Waid? Gotta look at this tale of an anonymous man tracking down the nameless dead in New York’s infamous paupers graveyard. From BOOM! Studios.

PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #11 by Matt Fraction and Leandro Fernandez. Lots of talking. Because that’s what one buys Punisher comics for.

SHOWCASE PRESENTS BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS VOL.1 SC by Lotsa People. Swear to God, they’re printing this.

SUPERMAN #667 by Kurt Busiek and Carlos Pacheco. Big fight with Subjekt-17, hopefully over proper spelling.

THOR #3 by J. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Copiel. Thor visits New Orleans two years after Katrina. Sadly he does not run into George Bush or Michael Brown, but there is a very gratifying encounter with Iron Man.

ULTIMATE POWER #7 of 9 by Jeph Loeb and Greg Land. Ultimates and Supremes, still fighting about…. something.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #113 by Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen. Goblin’s loose. Again.

WALKING DEAD #42 by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. WD appears now to be a bi-weekly title. Can we just give it up for God? Nice one, big fella! NOT for kids, always recommended.

X-FACTOR #23 by Peter David and Pablo Raimondi. Quicksilver is on a mission from God. Problems develop.

X-MEN: EMPEROR VULCAN #1 of 5 by Christopher Yost and Paco Diaz. The latest reason to wish for the Shiar and all the Second-Stringer Xers to be sucked into a black hole or get eaten by super-zombies or something. Have we learned nothing from Brubaker’s first year on UNCANNY? Okay for kids but not for anyone embarrassed by the sight of a guy swinging a big, glowing, Rob Liefeldian broadsword.
