Hi De Ho Comics and Books with Pictures!!

Here are the all "New Arrivals" Pages since 1998!

"New Comics This Week" for The week of June 6 to June 6, 2006

Hot Picks for the Week!
QUICK REVIEWS FOR COMICS DUE 06-07-06
    By John Judy

ACTION PHILOSOPHERS VOL. 1 GIANT-SIZED THING SC by Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey. Reprinting the first three sold-out issues of ACTION PHILOSOPHERS featuring Plato, Thomas Jefferson, Ayn Rand and many more! 96 pages of hard-thinking action! This week’s Must-Have!

BPRD UNIVERSAL MACHINE #3 of 5 by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi and Guy Davis. Kate Corrigan gets trapped in a French village by a collector of mysterious things. Will she be sealed in mylar and slabbed?!

CIVIL WAR: FRONT LINE #1 of 10 by Paul Jenkins and Ramon Bachs. The conflict that’s affecting the entire Marvel Universe. In the wake of a super-human slugfest gone horribly wrong which heroes are going to register with the Feds and which ones are going to be “Freedom-Haters” and “Evil-Doers?” The creepy parallels begin here, True Believer!

DETECTIVE COMICS #820 by James Robinson and Leonard Kirk. Two-Face is back and he doesn’t look happy. He never looks happy. With him the glass is never half-full, it’s always “half-hideously scarred with acid.”

ESSENTIAL FANTASTIC FOUR, VOL. 5 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Reprinting FF #84-110 and Annuals #7 & 8, featuring fights with Skrulls, Magneto, Doc Doom and the Sub-Mariner. “The World’s Greatest Comics Magazine!” Nuff said!

FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST FAMILY #4 of 6 by Joe Casey and Chris Weston. Unbelievably great art from Weston and Gary Erskine as we see the Baxter Building being built and the team almost falling apart before its legend begins. Cool.

FANTASTIC FOUR/IRON MAN: BIG IN JAPAN SC by Zeb Wels and Seth Fisher. American heroes fight giant 50s Marvel monsters in Tokyo! Droom! Giganto! Eerok! And that’s just the warm-up! Collecting the all four issues of the mini-series, plus the Fisher illustrated story from Spider-Man Unlimited #8

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #9 by Peter David and Mike Wieringo. Future Hobgoblin, Future Spidey and a badly confused Uncle Ben all play a part in this weird tale of time-travel from one of the few writers who can pull off such things without making your brain hurt.

FURY: PEACEMAKER #5 of 6 by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Sgt. Fury can’t make up his mind whether to trust the ratzis who say they want to assassinate Hitler or to just send every one of them to that Nuremberg Trial in the Sky. Guess what happens in issue six…

GREEN LANTERN PROMO RINGS by DC Comics and the Guardians of the Freakin’ Galaxy! Okay, they’re tied into next week’s release of the new GREEN LANTERN CORPS #1 but who cares?! They’re the first free GL rings in, like, forever dudes! Come and get ‘em! (Will not enable wearer to fly no matter how strong your will power is. Or will they…?)

HARD TIME SEASON TWO #7 of 7 by Steve Gerber, Mary Skrenes and Brian Hurtt. This series comes to its end far too soon with this issue. It’s 49 years later as we see what became of Ethan Harrow and the gang.

JSA #86 by Paul Levitz and Jerry Ordway. The Gentleman Ghost is fighting for his after-life against the JSA in this penultimate issue of the longest-running JSA series ever!

POWER GIRL SC by Many, Many People. Reprinting SHOWCASE #97-99, SECRET ORIGINS #11, and JSA CLASSIFIED #1-4. The heroine with one of the most distinctive costumes in comics stars in this 176 page extravaganza which dares to ask “Who is Power Girl and why does her origin change every five years, give or take?” Adam Hughes cover. :)

PUNISHER #34 by Garth Ennis and Goran Parlov. Frank Castle got his licks in against the Barracuda last issue, but now the bad guy’s got him handcuffed, underwater, with a ravenous great white ready to eat him alive. The Barracuda should know better than to make Frank angry like this…

WONDER WOMAN #1 by Allan Heinberg and Terry and Rachel Dodson. An all-new relaunch for one of the most iconic characters in all of fiction. It’s one year later and Diana is back with a new supporting cast and an A-List creative team. This week’s other Must-Have! Wednesday Signing (see below)!!

Special Note: This Wednesday, June 7, at HiDeHo Comics in Santa Monica (noon to 2:00) red-hot writer Allan Heinberg will be SIGNING copies of WONDER WOMAN #1 and maybe this obscure other title he works on called YOUNG AVENGERS. And other stuff if you ask nice. Be there!
